Alumni Involved in Emmy-Winning Documentary (T)ERROR Examines the Use of FBI Informants in Terrorist Investigations

(T)ERROR, the documentary film by David Sutcliffe 02 and Christopher St. John ’03, was one of four PBS Independent Lens films to receive a News and Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Investigative Documentary. The film follows a long-time FBI informant working a counterterrorism operation involving a suspected jihadist. The film highlights the prolific use of informants in counterterrorism work and questions the constitutionality of charges brought against some of those charged.

Sutcliffe was the documentary’s co-director, co-producer and co-cinematographer along with Lyric R. Cabral. St. John co-produced the film, which won multiple awards, including the Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and was well-received by reviewers.
