Women’s Rugby Team Routs Delaware, Field Hockey Team Loses in a Shootout, and the Women’s Soccer Team Falls to MIT
The women’s rugby team rolled over the University of Delaware, 96-0, Saturday, but the field hockey and women’s soccer teams both lost opening round games in their NCAA Division III tournaments.
The rugby team (11-0) advances to Round of 16 of the USA Rugby Fall Nationals next Saturday at Vassar Farm. Kate Sworden ’19 scored four tries to lead the offensive explosion against Delaware.
The field hockey team (18-2) lost a heartbreaker to The College of New Jersey in a shootout, 2-1. Megan Caveny ’19 scored for Vassar on a pass from Rylie Pope ’20.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology defeated Vassar, 4-1, in the opening round of the NCAA Division III playoffs in Amherst MA. Jordan Moss ’20 scored on a free kick in the 89th minute to avert the shutout. The Brewers finished the season with a record of 9-8-1.
